This summer, the Swiss- French artist Julian Charrière will transform the historic Basel warehouse GLOBUS, which is currently under renovation, with a cross- border work of art: He is building a bridge between the mountain dominated Swiss landscape and a cloud forest in the Ecuadorian western Andes to bring people across to connect over large distances. The invention in public space invites the people of Basel and visitors to take on a protective role with their active participation by lending their voice to an important CO2 sink and an endangered biodiversity hotspot on earth.
Calls for Action is the second part of the “Globus Art Project”: As part of the tree-year renovation of its iconic department store on Basel’s market square, GLOBUS, in collaboration with Foundation Beyeler, invites artists to conceive and realize new site-specific works of art engage with both the building and the audience.
