The Lucerne Cantonal Hospital celebrated the opening of its children’s hospital in 1971. Since then, not only has the number of patients quadrupled, but the demands placed on medical care have also developed significantly and become more complex. The existing premises no longer meet today’s needs, which is why a modern new building is planned. This is intended to expand the children’s hospital and also integrate a women’s clinic in order to create a holistic, interdisciplinary perinatal center. The new building will be designed in such a way that it meets the modern and future oriented requirements of all user groups. The existing women’s clinic building, which opened in 2001, is 25 years old at the time of new occupancy and the first renovation measures are pending. These renovations can be carried out without any restrictions on ongoing operations. House 21 will then be ready for new use in the next life cycle.
